CONCERT CHOIR:  You are not required to come in for the 2nd period exam on Thursday.  Midterm was the December concert performance.  Keep listening to your part recordings!   I’m pleased with your progress so far.  If we stay ahead of schedule, I will hand out another piece in February.   Good job, Concert Choir!

CHAMBER CHOIR:  Thank you for a productive class last night.  It was so nice to hear you sing – some really beautiful moments just reading through the music!  Continue to focus on preparation (listening and practicing).     Make note of the preparation/memorization deadlines below.  You are all on track for an amazing and rewarding March concert performance.

ALTO 2: MLK - Last two phrases, “let it rain” and “rain on him”: instead of singing the lower notes, please sing with the Tenors (melody).  I will update the practice file soon.

SOP 1:  I Am Not Yours – since Stephanie is alone on the Alto 1 sustained E, I would like Michaela to take the sustained G# while Nicole and Casey sing the lower part (with Sop 2).

Vogel Singers:  Practice your music plenty over the next two days – fully confident on Wednesday…no excuses.

Chamber Choir:  You will be singing The National Anthem for Parent’s Night on Thursday, January 5th.  Meet in the Choir room at 6:00 p.m. to rehearse, then we will sing in the Little Theatre at 6:30.  You’ll be finished after singing the Anthem.  As far as attire goes, it is not necessary to dress in concert attire.  Jeans are okay (no holes!!).  Guys: collared shirt preferred; no large logos or pictures on shirts – no hoodies.  Ladies: Tops MUST have sleeves.  Please dress in a way that represents THS Choirs with class.

Vogel-Wetmore Concert participants:  On Thursday, January 5th, we will take a bus to Vogel for a rehearsal with Mr. Brandt.  Bus will leave at 2:15 from behind the Little Theatre.  Bus will return to THS at approximately 3:00 p.m.   You have already received the music as an email attachment.  I will be sending a practice file by email as soon as I hear back from Mr. Brandt.  Vogel Concert is Wednesday, January 11th at 7:00 p.m. - you will need to provide your own transportation for the Vogel concert.  See me if you have further questions.

BOTH CHOIRS: Please pick up March concert music on Wednesday.  Chamber Choir, your music will be on the stereo cabinet in the choir room. The music will be stacked in sets – please be careful to pick up a complete set.  Concert Choir – I will distribute your music on Thursday during class.  All music, performance examples and practice files are on Charms.

Chamber Choir:  January 9th class preparation – please practice your part for the following pieces (all on Charms):  I Am Not Yours (through measure 23); MLK (B through end) and No Mirrors (through measure 30).  If you have any questions about voice assignments, please ask.

Now that you have proven you are capable of presenting a quality choral performance, the level of expectation will be raised ever so slightly for the next concert!  See below for a list of March concert pieces.  The combined choir performance went so well last night that I decided to do three combined pieces for March.

Concert Choir:  We will be having our party during class on Thursday, December 22nd.  Bring a little something to share.

Chamber Choir:  Our first class after break will be Monday, January 9th.  Please check your email and this website over break for information regarding preparation.

Chamber Choir, don’t forget our party next Monday, December 19th from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. (attendance is encouraged, but not mandatory).  Bring munchies, baked goods, whatever you can contribute.  I will provide beverages and snacks as well.  We will have the pleasure of visiting alums from as far back as my first year, so it will be an especially nice evening of catching up and singing a few old favorites.

March concert music will be distributed next week and all files will be posted to Charms over the next couple weeks.
